es Rivers is where the original trade between first nations and European explorers began in this part of the continent. People have lost or never knew the rich history of First Nations and European contact reaching back to 1611, when Henry Hudson sailed into the Bay over 400 years ago. A year later, Sir Thomas Button sailed in and named the Nelson River, and over the next 60 years, a variety of visitors sailed in and out.

NeeStaNan will need to buy railroad time from the Arctic Gateway Group for transport of its goods from Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan to Amery. Currently, trains run sporadically on the Arctic Gateway railway.

While there is one test load of 20,000 tonnes of zinc oar concentrate heading north on the Churchill line this spring or summer from Hudson Bay to the port, there is no guarantee that this will be followed by other loads.
