Dorothy Dobbie

A former member of Parliament (1988-1993), Dorothy Dobbie, previously served as parliamentary secretary in several portfolios. This includes Indian Affairs and Northern Development, Consumer and Corporate Affairs and the Environment. She also co-chaired the Dobbie-Beaudoin Joint House-Senate constitutional committee on the Renewal of Canada and spoke to the United Nations as part of her many duties.

She hosts a popular weekly radio show, the Gardener, on CJNU 93.7. and also the author of several plant and garden guides. Dorothy also co-wrote the Book of Ten Neat things. She is active on social media with a blog, Gardening Canuck, and on Twitter. She also writes for her several publications.

Mrs. Dobbie has a long record of community involvement. Served as chair or on the executive of countless community and national boards. She also chaired the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra from 2006 to 2012 and chaired the 2012 National Arts Summit.

Meanwhile, Dorothy serves as vice-president of Nostalgia Radio CJNU, and serves on several other boards and committees. She is also finance chair of the Board of the International Peace Gardens, a member of the Board of Tree Canada, an adjudicator on the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council and a member or the Canadian Arts Summit Advocacy Committee.

She is the recipient of several awards and medals. Among them, such as the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, The Commemorative Medal for the 125th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada, the Distinguished Service Award from the Former Manitoba members of the Legislature, Outstanding Business Citizen of the Year from the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and the Community Service Award of Winnipeg among other tributes and awards.


 

 

Ian Leatt

Ian Leatt

Ian has a lengthy career in business, with over 25 years of senior management experience. Therefore, using this experience, he brings an encouraging, supportive and positive natured environment to Pegasus. He is always quick with a joke and a smile.
Ian’s forward thinking and goal orientated nature means he has a vision. As a result, he wants to see Pegasus continue to grow in prominence and size as they head into the future.

Ian sits on the board of the Assiniboine Chamber of Commerce, and has similarly sat on the boards of numerous organizations in the past.

Ian has a lot of passions, such as food, fishing, the symphony, and gardening, where he spends much of his downtime. He regularly contributes recipe articles to the various Pegasus magazines.

 


 

 

Shauna Dobbie
Publisher/Editor

Shauna Dobbie

Shauna is the publisher and editor of the Canada’s Local Gardener magazine and The Hub and has taken over the weekly newsletter 10 Neat Things. She brings 10 years of experience as an editor and an entire lifetime as a writer to the business. She was the founding editor of Ontario Gardener and worked on that magazine and other Pegasus publications for a decade before taking time off with her family for eight years.

During her first stint with Pegasus, Shauna became active with related charities and non-profits. Serving on the board of directors for Communities in Bloom Canada and Plant a Row Grow a Row, as the chair of Communities in Bloom Ontario, as the founder of Schools in Bloom, and also as a judge for Communities in Bloom and WinterLights.

She loves to write, especially about travelling, bugs, animals and, of course, gardening. She grew up in Winnipeg and has a special relationship to the publishing world; her mother is Dorothy Dobbie.

 


 

 

Gord Gage
Sales Manager

Gordon Gage

Gord has a strong background in business development. Also, with marketing and sales experience gained in a number of industry sectors including tourism, manufacturing, environmental technology, internet marketing and real estate. In a volunteer capacity he served on Travel Manitoba’s Industry Advisory Committee and Manitoba Fisheries Enhancement Fund’s Project Review Committee. He has also been a board member of Fish Futures Inc Manitoba, The Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club. And spent 13 years on The Winnipeg Art Gallery board including three years as President.

 


 

 

Karl Thomsen
Art Director

Karl Thomsen

Karl oversees the design of all of Pegasus Publications’ various publications.

Has 25 years experience in the Winnipeg publishing industry since graduating from the University of Manitoba’s School of Art. Previously worked on Uptown Magazine and Canstar Community News, a division of the Winnipeg Free Press.

 

 

 

 

 


 

 

Caroline Fu

With over 20 years experience in media, marketing, and sales, Caroline has a proven track record of successfully expanding businesses. Beyond her extensive background in content creation, she possesses diverse expertise in various digital marketing disciplines. Her skill set spans online campaign planning and implementation, including, but not limited to, website building and maintenance, social listening and tracking, SEO, web apps, virtual conferences and seminars, social media posts, online user interactions and data analysis.

Caroline has a wide range of interests in the earthling’s subjects, including art, literature, anthropology, psychology, mythology, religion and Quantum Mechanics. True to her Taurus nature, she’s captivated by classic fashion, world music, detective/romance/documentary movies, investment and delicious food.


 

 

Shelly Deng Accounting Manager

Shelly Deng

Shelly Deng runs our office with efficiency, a welcome smile and an easy-going manner. As Accounting & Administrative Manager, she takes care of all our day to day financial needs. In particular Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Tax Payable, Payroll & Payroll Liability, Banking, Accounts Reconciliation, Financial Statements, etc. She is the one who looks after our subscription database and is likewise responsible for company’s administrative duties. She is the first person to welcome our clients and subscribers, whether it’s at the door or over the phone.

Shelly came from Guangzhou, China, where she resided until she moved to Winnipeg. Shelly also loves spending time with her friends. Especially when discovering all of the interesting places and activities our city has to offer, travelling, cooking and music.
