It’s October, which means it’s time for CJNU’s biggest annual party – Pledge Drive! From Thursday October 24th through Sunday October 27th you’re invited to join us for a four-day celebration of everything CJNU is and does. Our Sixth Annual Pledge Drive is lining up to be our biggest and best yet – with almost every one of our over 100 volunteers involved in some capacity over the course of the weekend either in the studio or behind the scenes!
It’s an opportunity for us to celebrate the great music you know and love, and to have conversations with many of our community’s change-makers – as they explain why it’s crucial to have a platform like CJNU in Winnipeg. We’re also working hard to connect LIVE once again with Chuck Southcott in Los Angeles and for the first time with Denny Farrell in Chicago for a couple of special shows.
This year’s Pledge Drive has the overarching theme “In Tune With Our Community”. With CJNU about to enter its 14th year on the air, and with a fresh seven year licence from the CRTC hanging proudly on our wall, this is an incredible time for your Community station. As a non-profit co-operative, powered almost entirely by volunteers, we stretch every penny we have as far as we can – but the costs of running a radio station will always be substantial.
Pledge Drive is the one time during the year when we unashamedly and unabashedly say: we need your help! We truly would not exist without the direct support of our members and listeners. We are eternally grateful for your support and sincerely hope you’ll choose to make a contribution this year. You’ll be in good company – 600 individuals made a donation during our last Pledge Drive.
We’re hoping to smash through our $60,000 target this year – with the money raised planned to go toward new equipment for the station including: a larger and more functional mixer in our home studio, new remote broadcasting technology to enable us to be on location in more than one place at a time, and to help with our on-going transmitter upgrade project. Plus, as always, we squirrel away a portion into our ‘rainy day fund’… just in case!
As always, we’ll have a HUGE number of fabulous prizes on offer – with draws being made almost every two hours through the weekend involving everyone who makes a donation of any size, as well as some excellent incentives for those who choose to pledge $60, $125, $250 or $500. There will also be special early-bird prize draws for those who choose to make a pledge before the party starts on the 24th, and several Grand Prize draws after the weekend with every donor’s name in the hat!
